Biogen’s £7.5 million Waen plant in Denbighshire is claimed to be the largest in the country is now online in Wales, and will help generate 1MW of renewable electricity – enough to power around 2,000 homes. The new facility will be able to convert around 22,500 tonnes of food waste into energy every year. The anaerobic digestion plant also produces a valuable biofertiliser for use on nearby farms.
