Harvesting equipment and razor clams have been seized by Conwy Council officers after local residents complained about shellfish harvesting on Llanfairfechan beach in Conwy. On Friday morning over 100 people were photographed harvesting clams at the beach.
The council took action due to food safety concerns.
Aberconwy’s Conservative AM Janet Finch-Saunders said “Clearly you cannot have industrial harvesting if that is what is taking place, concerns have been raised to me about the actual sustainability of what is going on.” and said she was raising the issue of sustainability with the Welsh government.
